Entrepreneur~IP Expert~Science & Culture Advocate~Patent Holder~Author~Educator
I've built several businesses from scratch by identifying the advantages novel solutions can deliver. I lobbied intensely and succeeded in bringing my radio receiver technology ID LOGIC® into a US national standard and successfully licensed the IP to major manufacturers.
I developed breakthrough technology that allowed Classical Archives to become the first profitable global music website and concluded a merger to bring in AI semantic analysis into ContextU to ease pain points in the scientific publishing process. CULTIVATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH EXPERTS - MOTIVATE AND INFLUENCE STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS ORGANIZATIONAL SILOS As I believe that context is essential to transform information into knowledge, I founded the Open Ontology Project. I am able to engender long term loyalty and creativity of experts. This has allowed the retention world-class talents. As an innate strategist, I discern potential problems well in advance, and develop strategic pivots. Proactively, I can build buy-in and agreement internally and shepherd projects towards positive outcomes. ARDENT ADVOCATE FOR SCIENCE AND BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER TO INDUSTRY Further to my own IP licensing (I have 8 patents), I work in technology transfer as it delivers many benefits such as enhanced US competitiveness, job creation, brings technology outside the lab, as well as producing financial returns, ever more crucial during uncertain government funding climate. (See my blog Science Funding in Peril) The naming of asteroid 32890 (Schwob) acknowledges my support for science as well as the Pierre R Schwob Center for Information and Computing at the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology at Stanford/SLAC. Authored and published three books on chess, math, and history. |
